Public transport options on Sado Island include buses, taxis, and sight-seeing buses. If you don’t want to worry about timetables, bringing your own car to Sado or renting one here is a great option. If you want to rent a car, advanced reservations are recommended, especially in summer.

There will be EC Shuttle Buses (EC Charter Buses and EC Express Buses) operating in addition to regular local bus services during EC—Aug. 16 (Fri)–19 (Mon). Advanced reservations are required to ride EC Charter Buses. No reservation is required to ride EC Express Buses.

Important Notes: ・Shuttle buses departing for Sado Island Taiko Centre or Kodo Village can only be used if you have a ticket for the relevant workshops and/or experiences. ・For workshops at Sado Island Taiko Centre, you can take the EC Shuttle Bus service or make your own way there by car or bike. ・If you are participating in the workshops/experiences held at Kodo Village, please come by EC Shuttle Bus. (Please refrain from coming to Kodo Village by car, bike, or on foot. Access is only available by EC Shuttle Bus for this event.) ・Shuttle buses headed to Shukunegi on Aug. 18 can be used by anyone, even if you have not bought a ticket for the "Ogi Folk Performing Arts at Shukunegi Community Hall" event.

The main events at EC take place just a few minutes on foot from Ogi Port. Traveling to the EC venues in Ogi via local island buses takes approximately 1h 50m from Ryotsu Port and 1hr 30m from Aikawa. Rental cars are ideal for small groups or families with children, offering you the freedom to travel between EC events and your accommodation without adhering to timetables. We recommend booking rental cars for EC as early as possible because demand is very high in summer on Sado Island, especially during EC, but the number of rental cars available is limited.

You can bring your own car to Sado Island using the regular car ferry services. This is a popular choice for small groups, families, and people with a lot of camping gear and luggage.
