Come and experience Yasukazu Kano’s highly effective SHINOBUE KANO METHOD firsthand, which he also teaches at Kodo Apprentice Centre. In this bamboo flute workshop, you’ll find the optimal flute position and lip tension to produce full-bodied sound. You’ll also learn how to play with power by opening up your throat and jaw, and drawing your breath up from your abdomen. The goal is for your flute to really sing with resonance when you play alongside taiko, without being overshadowed. Your sound will completely change!

・Your own shinobue (The workshop will be conducted with roppon-choshi [#6] with DoReMi tuning.) *There is a rental option available (+¥500). If you’d like to rent a flute, please advise Kodo Ticket Service after you receive confirmation of your ticket. Please pay for the rental fee with cash at the venue. ・Sports towel ・Water (or other hydrating drink)

・This workshop will be conducted in Japanese and English. ・This workshop venue has a wheelchair accessible restroom. ・Workshop observation is not permitted.

You can take the EC Shuttle Bus* service or make your own way there by car or bike. *EC Shuttle Buses for Workshop & Experience Participants will be operating during the festival. Further details TBA in May on this page.
